Nyasa Daughters go to the seaside - Mablethorpe - 29 August 2015
A few mums and children boarded a coach from Nottingham's Sycamore centre to embark on our seaside trip. The journey there was great with the mums reminiscing about bus trips back home. The children were fascinated to hear stories about our childhood. Songs were sang and it was great for the mums to share positive memories.
We took along with us gumba-gumba for music. We listened to popular African music on the beach and danced like no one was watching. Picnic set, fish and chips for lunch. Of course no Malawian get together is complete without mandasi! The sea was calm and as warm as the sea gets in August in Mablethorpe. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the waterfront and some mums braved the cold sea too. Donkey rides for the little children and fairground rides for the older children were highlights of the day.
The trip was a success. We planning the next one already!

Nyasa Daughters of Nottingham's first AGM - 1 August 2015
We had our first Annual General meeting held at the Nottingham Self Help offices. We had good attendance including delegates from OSCAR and Women's Aid. We celebrated the first year of NDN and our achievements.
Thanks were given notably to Ms R Pillane who opened her home for the first NDN meeting. It was that generosity that set a foundation. The outgoing Leadership team was also thanked under the leadership of Chair lady Mrs E Makossah. External organisations have given us incredible support from funding to time and facilities.
The new team are really looking forward to the next 12 months and are already underway in making sure our objectives are met.
